That the whole number of votes was...93
Of which number the Hon. James B. Groome received
seventy-five votes, and the Hon. John E. Smith eighteen
votes.

The Speaker of the House of Delegates, as Chairman of
the Joint Convention, announced that Hon. James B.
Groome had received a majority of all the votes cast, and de-
clared him duly elected to fill the unexpired term of the Hon.
William Pinkney Whyte, as Governor of Maryland, from
and after the 4th of March next.

On motion of Mr. Stevens,
The Joint Convention then adjourned.
