WEDNESDAY, February 18, 1874.

The following communications which had been received
from His Excellency, Governor Whyte, by the hands of C.
J. Pennington, Esq., Assistant Secretary of State, were read:

STATE OF MARYLAND,

EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT,

Annapolis, February 18, 1874.
Gentlemen of the Senate of Maryland:

I have the honor to make the following nominations for
Justices of the Peace and Officers of Registration for Calvert
county, viz:

Justices of the Peace.

1st District—Thomas R. Grover, James J. Blackburn,
Walter W. Dorsey, George H. Weedon,
Virgil C. Lawrence.

2nd do James L. Hutching, Charles R. Harrison,
James P. King, Thomas C. Carpenter.

3rd do Jesse Carr, Thomas Plumrner, William Ire-
land, Virgil C. Carr.

Officers of Registration.
1st District William H. Hellen.
2nd do Charles R. Belt.
3rd do James Elliott.

WM. PINKNEY WHYTE.
On motion by Mr. Tuck,

The aforegoing appointments were referred to the Commit-
tee on Executive Nominations.
