1833.

holders if they shall see fit; to make report of their proceed-
ings and the state of the affairs of the corporation at the
general meetings, whenever called upon for that purpose;
and generally to exercise all the powers and privileges con-
ferred upon or appertaining to this corporation; Provided,
the same be compatible with law and the ordinances pass-
ed at the general meetings of the stockholders afore-
said.

CHAP. 60.

Sec. 7. And 6e it enacted, That all the estate, property,
and joint stock of the corporation, shall be bound and an-
swerable for the contracts and engagements made, and
liabilities incurred by the curators thereof, or through their
agency, or by their authority; and the service of any legal
process, by any officer authorised by law to serve the same,
upon the president, or any one of the curators shall be
deemed a good and sufficient service upon the corpora-
tion.

Accountability

Sec. 8. And be it enacted, That the said corporation
shall have full power and authority to use, negotiate, bar-
ter, exchange, transfer, or otherwise dispose of and employ
all the joint stock, estate, property and revenue of the cor-
poration, to promote the objects thereof, in any way and
manner they may deem most advisable; Provided, the same
be done agreeably to the laws of the land, and the provi-
sions of this act.

General powers

Sec. 9. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act shall
be so construed as to confer any banking privileges on
the corporation herein incorporated.

Banking prohibit-
ed

Sec. 10. And be it enacted, That this act shall continue
and be in force until the year eighteen hundred and forty-
five, and until the end of the next general assembly, which
shall happen hereafter.

Limitation

CHAPTER 80.

 

A further Supplement to an act, entitled, an act to estab-
lish a Bank, and incorporate a Company, under the
name of The Cumberland Bank of Allegany.

Passed Jan. 23. 1834

SECTION 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the President and Directors of the Cum-
berland Bank of Allegany, for the time being, shall have full
