SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the aforesaid James O. Law, William
T. Leonard, J. F. Petherbridge, Joshua Peterkin, John N.
McJilton, J. C. Ninde, Charles Evans, H. Stout, J. Ear-
nest, J. L. Carey, for the purposes aforesaid, their associ-
ates, successors and assigns, be and they are hereby cre-

ated a corporation and body politic, by the name and style
of the Baltimore Young Men's Sociely, and by that name
shell have perpetual succession, and shall be able and
capable in law to sue and be sued, plead and be implead-
ed, answer and be answered in any court of law or equity,
and to make and use a common seal, and the same to
change and alter at pleasure; and to ordain and establish
such bye-laws and regulations, not contrary to law, as shall
be necessary or convenient for conducting the affairs of
the corporation.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said corporation
shall be able and capable in law to purchase, receive and
hold property both personal and real, and the same to dis-
pose of in such manner as may be deemed most conducive
to the interest thereof: Provided, such property shall not
at any one time exceed ten thousand dollars.

General meeting-
election
|
Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That there shall be a meeting
of the members of said corporation, on the evening of the
third Tuesday in October, or within ten days thereafter, in
every year, for the purpose of electing, by ballot, a president,
two vice-presidents, a corresponding secretary, a recording
secretary, a treasurer and twelve managers, who together
shall constitute a board of directors to manage all the con-
cerns of the corporation.

Limitation
|
Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That this act shall continue
and be in force until the year eighteen hundred and forty-
five, and until the end of the next session of the General
Assembly thereafter.
