conviction thereof in the Circuit Court of Frederick County,

or in any other court having jurisdiction in the premises, his
|

office shall be deemed to be vacant, and said Board of Alder-
|
 
|
men shall thereupon appoint some other person having the
|
 
|
qualifications hereinbefore prescribed for the office of City
|
 
|
Register to fill out the unexpired term of the person so
|
 
|
convicted. The term of office of the person so elected City
|
 
|
Register shall begin on the first Monday next after his election
|
 
|
and he shall continue in office until his successor in office is
|
 
|
duly elected and qualified.

185. The Mayor shall receive in lieu of fees an annual sal-
|
and duties.

ary of six hundred dollars, payable quarterly in equal instal-
|
 
|
ments, which sum shall be his total compensation. He shall
|
 
|
annually, immediately before making out the tax levy for each
|
 
|
year, and as much oftener as he shall deem necessary, examine
|
 
|
into and audit the accounts of the City Register, and shall
|
 
|
report the result of his examination, in writing, to the Board of
|
 
|
Aldermen, who shall preserve such reports and record the same
|
 
|
among the minutes of their proceedings. The term of office
|
 
|
of the person elected Mayor shall begin on the first Monday
|
 
|
next after his election and shall continue until his successor
|
 
|
in office is duly elected and qualified.
|
 
|
270B. The Governor shall appoint, on or before the first day
|
 
|
of April, in the year 1904, unless such appointment shall
|
 
|
already have been made under existing law, and on or before
|
 
|
the same day every third year thereafter, for the City of Fred-
|
 
|
erick, three persons, who shall constitute and be styled "The
|
Board of Su-
pervisors of
|
Board of Supervisors of Elections for Frederick City ;" said
|
Elections.
|
Supervisors shall be residents and voters of said city, and two
|
 
|
of them shall always be selected from the majority political
|
 
|
party of the State, one from the minority party ; they shall
|
 
|
be men of high character and integrity and of recognized busi-
|
 
|
ness capacity. Each of said Supervisors of Elections shall re-
|
 
|
ceive the sum of fifty dollars as compensation for his services
|
 
|
during his term of office from the Mayor and Aldermen of
|
 
|
Frederick. The salaries and all other expenses incurred by
|
 
|
them in the proper discharge of their duties as such Supervisors
|
 
|
of Elections shall be audited and paid by the Board of Alder-
|
 
|
men by warrant drawn upon the proper officers of said city ;

|
any person or persons appointed Supervisors of Elections of
|
 
|
said city in pursuance of this section as it stood prior to the
|
 
|
passage of this Act shall perform the duties required by them
