fault of the payment of fines imposed for such violations or

may, at their option, confine such persons in the county jail

at the expense of the said town, or they may require such per-

sons in default of payment of fine to work out such fines and
|

costs upon the streets or other improvements of said town,

such person to be allowed as a credit on such fines or costs the
|
|

same wages as are paid other employees of said town for the
|
|

same character of work.

111M. All fines, penalties and forfeitures imposed for violat-

fore any justice of the peace of the State of Maryland, residing

justice for said town by said Mayor and Council and no other,

or small debts, and shall be paid to the Mayor and Council

for the use of said town. And anyone feeling aggrieved by any

judgment rendered by said police justice shall have the right

of appeal to the Circuit Court for Garrett County to the next
|
|
 
|
term of said court, but no judgment, fine or penalty imposed
|
|
 
|
shall be stayed unless the party taking the appeal shall file a
|
|
 
|
bond to be approved by the said justice in double the amount of
|
|

111O. From and after the passage of this Act, the provisions

the sale of spirituous and fermented liquors and lager beer
|

in Election District No. 2, of Garrett County," be and the same
|
|

is hereby repealed so far as the same shall not apply to that
|
|
 
|
part of Election District No. 2 contained within the corporate
|
|
 
|
limits of the town of Friendsville, in Garrett County, Mary-
|
|
 
|
land, hereby incorporated, and said part of said Election Dis-
|
|
 
|
trict No. 2, within said corporate limits is hereby exempted
|
|
 
|
from the operation of the provisions of said Act of 1898,
|
|
 
|
Chapter 77 ; and whenever any hotel keeper having accommo-
|
|
 
|
dation for fifteen guests in said corporate limits of Friendsville
|
|
 
|
shall produce to the clerk of the Circuit Court for Garrett
|
|
 
|
County a receipt for the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars
|
|
 
|
paid to the clerk of the Mayor and Council of Friendsville for
|
|
 
|
a license to sell spirituous and fermented liquors in said town,
|
|
 
|
then the clerk of the Circuit Court for Garrett County shall
|
|
 
|
issue a license to such parties to sell spirituous and fermented
|
