56Q. Every officer of the town before entering upon the dis-
|

charge of his duties of the office to which he may be elected or

appointed, shall take and subscribe to the following oath or af-
|

firmation before a justice of the peace for Washington County:
|
 
|
"I,............. do hereby swear or affirm that I will well and

faithfully discharge the duties of ............ in accordance
|
 
|
with the best of my ability and understanding;" a certificate
|
 
|
of which oath shall be filed with the clerk of the Burgess and
|
 
|
Council and recorded by him in a book kept for that purpose.

|
If any person elected or appointed to any office shall fail to take
|
 
|
the oath or affirmation required within five days from the date
|
 
|
of his election or appointment, the office shall be declared
|
 
|
vacant.
|
 
|
56R. All property within the limits of Boonsborough or

tionment of said assessment. Should any property, liable to be
|
 
|
taxed for town purposes be omitted in the county assessment,
|
 
|
the Burgess and Council shall have the power to include said
|
 
|
property in the town assessment and impose a just valuation
|
 
|
thereon.

56S. The Burgess and Council shall annually levy on the
