CHAPTER 163.
|
 
|
AN ACT to add additional sections to the Code of Public Local
|
 
|
Laws of Maryland, title "Frederick County," under a new
|
 
|
sub-title to be designated "Coroners and Justices of the
|
 
|
Peace," regulating certain duties of coroners and justices
|
 
|
of the peace, acting as coroners for Frederick County; also
|
 
|
regulating fees of physicians in said county attending coro-
|
 
|
ners' inquests.

|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
|

land, That additional sections be added to the Code of Public
|
justices of
the peace.

Peace," certain additional sections to be known as Section I
|
 
|
and 2, which shall read as follows :
|
 
|
i. The coroners or any justice of the peace, acting as coro-
|

ners in and for Frederick County, shall, upon the decease of

any person in said county, where such deceased person came

to his or her death by accident or mischance, and where there
|
 
|
are such circumstances attending the death or surrounding
|
 
|
the case as to amount to a strong probability or reasonable be-
|
 
|
lief that the deceased came to his or her death by felony ; and
|
 
|
in all such cases it shall be the duty of said coroner or any
|
 
|
justice of the peace acting as coroner to immediately summon
|
 
|
some physician practicing within the limits of said Frederick
|
 
|
County, or in any city therein, where the decease of such
|
 
|
person may occur, to make due examination of the deceased
|
 
|
and the cause of his or her death, for which examination the
|

said physician so summoned shall be paid the sum of five dol-

lars by the Board of County Commissioners for said Fred-
|
 
|
erick County, and upon the advice or direction of such phy-
|
 
|
sician, given in writing under his hand to such acting coroner,

for the holding of an inquest over the body of such deceased
|
 
|
person, thereupon such written advice and direction given by
|
 
|
the physician aforesaid, and not before, it shall be the duty of
