keeper a reasonable compensation for the additional use of said

 

horse, mare, gelding or vehicle, which additional compensa-

 

tion shall be rated in proportion to the increased distance and

 

use, such person shall, on conviction before any justice of the

 

peace of Cecil County, forfeit and pay a fine of not less than

 

five dollars nor more than one hundred dollars, and upon

 

failure or refusal to pay said fine and costs shall be com-

 

mitted by such justice of the peace to the jail of Cecil County

 

for a period not exceeding thirty days, and in case the judg-

 

ment of the justice of the peace is against the accused, he shall

 

have the right of appeal to the Circuit Court for Cecil County
upon entering recognizance with security to be approved by

Penalty.

CHAPTER 658.

 

AN ACT to add four new sections to Chapter 528 of the Acts

 

of the General Assembly of Maryland passed at its January

 

Session, 1898, to follow immediately after Section 8 and to

 

be known and designated as Sections 8 A, 8B, 8C and 8D,

 

and to repeal Section 12 of said Chapter 528 of the General

 

Assembly of Maryland and to re-enact the same with amend-

 

ments.

 

SECTION I. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

 

land, That four new sections to Chapter 528 of the Acts of the
