provided, that if the County Commissioners of Anne Arundel

County shall determine that it is more advantageous to the

interests of the taxpayers of the county to remove said bridge

from its present location and construct the same as desired by

the United States Government, and to be paid for, by said

United States Government, then this Act shall be null and

void, and the County Commissioners shall not be required to

obey the provisions of this Act, and that any and all Acts or

parts of Acts inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed.

SEC. 14. And be it. enacted, That this Act shall take "effect

from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 616.

AN ACT to prevent the obstruction of the sidewalks of the

streets, lanes and alleys of Baltimore City, and for that pur-

pose to repeal the paragraph entitled "Buildings," of Sec-

tion 6, entitled "General Powers," of Article 4, entitled "City

of Baltimore," of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-

land, as enacted by Chapter 123 of the Acts of the General

Assembly of Maryland, passed at the January Session in

the year 1898 ; also to repeal Section 8 of said Article, sub-

title "Franchises," and to re-enact said paragraph and said

Section 8 with amendments.
