338 State of Maryland Minutes of 1944. Proceedings of electors of President and Vice President of the United States of America in and for the State of Maryland. At Noon on Monday December 18, 1944, The electors of the State of Maryland for President and Vice President of the United States, assembled in the State House at Annapolis. There were present: Mrs. J. Wilmer Cronin, William H. Kirkwood, Jr., Wesley E. Thawley, Jr. Washington Bowie, Jr. Stefan Radzuminski, Justinus Gould, Mrs. Daisy F. LaCoppidan and Harold F. Bester. Washington Bowie, Jr. was selected as Chairman, William H. Kirkwood, Jr., as Vice Chairman and J. Edgar Harvey as Secretary. The following certificate in sextuplicate was received from Governor Herbert R. O'Conor of Maryland. Executive Department Annapolis Maryland I, Herbert R. O'Conor, Governor of the State of Maryland, do hereby certify to the Honorable, The secretary of State of the United States, in accordance with the provisions of an Act of the Congress of the United States, approved June 5, 1934, as follows: " The electors of President and Vice president of each State shall meet and give their votes on the first Monday after the second Wednesday in December next following their appointment at such places in each state, as the legislature of such state shall direct: (48 State. 879) that the final ascertainment of the result of the election for Presidential Electors of the State of Maryland held in this State on the 7th day of November 1944, a copy of which ascertainment shows that: |
