290 1921. Proceedings of Electors of President and Vice President of the United States of America in and for the State of Maryland. On the second Monday of January being the tenth day thereof, in the year Nineteen hundred and Twenty-one, the day appointed by the Constitution and Laws of the United States, on which the Electors for President and Vice President of the United States of America are directed to assemble and perform the trust reposed in them, there appeared at the hour of noon in the Senate Chamber in the State House in the City of Annapolis, (the time and place designated by Act of Assembly, for the meeting of said Electors) the following gentlemen who had been proclaimed by the Executive Authority of the State, to have been duly elected, Electors of President and Vice President of the United States, in and for the State of Maryland, to wit: James Carey J. E. Stonebaker Benj. F. Woelper, Jr. Asa Clarkhuff Sharp A. C. Hayden William G. Albrecht William G. Henkel William T. Delaplane. The said Electors severally qualified by taking the oath prescribed by the Constitution to be taken by all civil officers. On motion of Mr. Carey, Hon. William G. Albrecht was unanimously chosen President of the College and was escorted to the Chair by Messrs. Delaplaine and Woelper, and upon taking the Chair expressed his appreciation of the compliment paid him by the College. On motion of Mr. Henkel, Edw. L. Wolf was elected Secretary to the College and on motion of Mr. Woelper Jr. Chas J. Taylor, Sr. was elected Messenger. On motion of Mr. Delaplaine it was ordered that a Committee of two be appointed to wait on the Governor and inform him that the College was organized and to ask if he had any communication to make to it. The Chair appointed Messrs. Henkel and Carey, who waited on the Governor and reported that it was impossible for them to perform the duties imposed upon them as the Governor and the Secretary of State were both out of the city. |
