230 1909 Proceedings of Electors of President and Vice President of the United States of America in and for the United States of Maryland. On the second Monday of January being the eleventh day thereof, in the year nineteen hundred and nine; the day appointed by the Constitution and Laws of the United States, on which the Electors for President and Vice President of the United States of America, are directed to Assemble and perform the trust reposed in them, there appeared at the hour of noon, in the Senate Chamber in the State House in the City of Annapolis, (the time and place designated, by Act of Assembly, for the meeting of said Electors) the following gentlemen who had been proclaimed by the Executive Authority of the State to have been duly elected, Electors of President and Vice President of the United States, in and for the State of Maryland: to wit: James Enos Ray, Jr. James W. Derncy, Edwin H. Brown, Jr. John F. Williams, Hampson H. Biedler, John Charles Linthicum, John A. Robinson, and Albert G. Towers. The said Electors severally qualified by taking the oath prescribed by the Constitution to be taken by all civil officers. On motion of Mr. Williams, Hon. James W. Derncy was unanimously chosen President of the College and was escorted to the chair by Messrs. Robinson P. Linthicum, and upon taking the chair expressed his appreciation of the compliment paid him by the College. On motion of Mr. Jno. F. Williams, James W. Owens was elected Secretary to the College. On motion of Mr. Brown it was ordered that a Committee of three be appointed to wait on the Governor and inform him that the College was organized and to ask if he had any communication to make to it. The chair appointed Messrs. Linthicum, Robinson and Williams who waited on the Governor and reported that they had performed the duty imposed on them, and that they were informed by the Governor that he would forthwith send |
