195 votes had been cast and that all of them were for William McKinley of the State of Ohio for President of the United States, and that no other person had been voted for. Whereupon, It was declared by the chair that William McKinley of the State of Ohio had received eight votes for President of the United States, from and after the third day of March next ensuing, being the whole number of votes to which the State of Maryland is entitled. On motion by Mr. Jesse Cookman Boyd. The Electors proceeded to ballot for Vice President of the United States for the ensuing term. Mr. J. C. Boyd nominated Garret A. Hobart of the State of New Jersey for said term. The President appointed as tellers Messrs. Watchman, and Welch. The ballots of the Electors were deposited in a ballot box which had been delivered to Messrs Watchman and Welch: who on counting the ballots reported that eight votes had been cast and that all of them were for Garret A. Hobart of the State of New Jersey for Vice President of the United States, and that no other person had been voted for. The President then directed the Secretary to prepare the several forms of the certificates for the signatures of the Electors. Whereupon the Secretary prepared the following form of certificates, to wit: |
