142 List of the person voted for as Vice President of the United States of America by the Electors of President and Vice President of the United States in and for the State of Maryland. B. Gratz Brown of the State of Missouri received Eight votes for Vice President of the United States of America. We hereby certify that the above is a true list of the person voted for by the Electors of President and Vice President of the United States in and for the State of Maryland and of the number of votes by him received. Witness our hands and seals this fourth day of December Eighteen hundred and Seventy two. To the three certificates prepared by the Secretary agreeably to the aforegoing form the Secretary attached severally are of the certificates furnished by the Executive Authority of the State in obedience to the Act of Congress of 1792. ch. 109. The said certificates were then duly signed and sealed by the Electors as were also the lists agreeably to the aforegoing form. They were then folded and sealed and addressed to the President of the Senate of the United States, Washington, with the following memorandum on each certificate to each of which each Elector attached his name ' Certificate of the Election of President and Vice President of the United States of America in and for the state of Maryland, December the 4th 1872. Whereupon the President delivered one of the said certificates to Hon.
