                    Proceedings of Electors
                                    of
    President and Vice President of the United States,
in and for the State of
                          Maryland 1872.


On the first Wednesday in December being the fourth
day of the said month in the year one thousand
Eight Hundred and Seventy Two, the day appointed
by the Constitution and Laws of the United States,
on which the Electors of President and Vice President
of the United States of America are directed to assemble
and perform the trust reposed in them; there appeared
in the Senate Chamber in the City of Annapolis (The
place designated by acts of assembly for the meeting
of the said Electors) the following gentlemen who had
been proclaimed by the Executive Authority of the State
to have been duly elected Electors of President and Vice
President of the United States in and for the State of
Maryland; To Wit;
Hon. Frederick Raine                at Large
Hon. Augustus W. Bradford
Hon. Philip D. Laird                 1st District
Hon. James B. Groome            2d District
Hon. John M. Carter                3rd District
Hon. James A. Buchanan         4th District
Hon. James T. Briscoe             5th District
Hon. William Walsh                 6th District
The said Electors severally qualified by taking the Oath
prescribed by the Constitution to be taken by all civil
officers, and by declaring their belief in the Christian
Religion.
On motion of Mr. Walsh, Hon. Frederick Raine was
unanimously chosen President.
On motion of Mr. Buchanan, Augustus Gassaway of
Annapolis City was elected Secretary who duly qualified
as such,
Mr. Carter, submitted the following order
Ordered that Samuel Davis be appointed messenger
and George W. Murdock Door Keeper to this College.
