and Vice President of the United States on the part of said
state are directed to meet and perform the trust reposed in
them and that then and there having been duly qualified
and organized Franklin Pierce of the State of New Hampshire
was put in nomination for President of the United States of
America for four years from and after the third day of March
next ensuing that we then and there in pursuance of the
Constitution and laws of the United States proceeded to vote
by ballots for the President of the United States of America
and on counting the ballots it was ascertained that Franklin
Pierce of the State of New Hampshire received eight votes
for President of the United States of America, that then
and there William R. King of the State of Alabama was put
in nomination for Vice President of the United States of
America for four years from the third day of March next
Ensuing that we then and there in pursuance of the
Constitution and laws of the United States proceeded to
vote by ballots for Vice President of the United States of
America and on counting the ballots it was ascertained
that William R. King of the State of Alabama received
eight votes for Vice President of the United States of America.
    The annexed lists of the said persons with the votes
given to the same are hereby returned by us the Electors
of President and Vice President of the United States
in and for the State of Maryland in pursuance of the
Constitution and laws of the United States as having
the aforesaid number of votes.
            Done at the City of Annapolis on the first Wednesday
of December being the first day of said month in the
year one thousand eight hundred and fifty two.
            In witness whereof we hereto subscribe our hands
and fix our seals.
