XXXIV.

                                LAWS of MARYLAND.

entitled to the same reward for his trouble as he is or shall be allowed by law
for entering any other matter on record.

Continuance.     XIX.  This act to continue one year, and until the end of the next session of
assembly which shall happen thereafter.

                                            CHAP. XXXV.
An ACT to aid the proceedings of the commissioners of George-town
                                              in Kent county.
Preamble.     WHEREAS the inhabitants of George-town in Kent county, by their
petition to this general assembly, have set forth, that in the year seventeen
hundred and thirty-six a law passed appointing and empowering
certain commissioners to lay out a town on a certain tract of land called Tolchester,
on the south side of Sassafras river, and to employ a sufficient clerk to
make true entries, upon oath, of their proceedings, and directing the said entries to
be made up in a well bound book, and lodged with the county clerk for the inspection
of any person:  And whereas the said book, containing the entries of the
town aforesaid, is lost or mislaid, whereby the said petitioners may sustain considerable
loss and be liable to disputes:
Commissioners

    II.  Be it enacted, by the general assembly of Maryland, That William Rogers,
John Vorhees, James Henry, Joseph Sturgis and Samuel Earle, be and they are
hereby appointed commissioners to resurvey and lay out the said town agreeably to
the original location thereof.
Who shall
cause a certificate
and

plot to be registered,
&c.
    III.  And be it enacted, That the said commissioners shall cause a certificate
and plot of the said town to be registered, by a clerk to be appointed by them for
such purpose, in a well bound book, and return a certificate and plot of the said
town to the clerk of the county, which said certificate and plot shall be conclusive
evidence of the metes and bounds of said town.
And appoint
a surveyor,
&c.
    IV.  And be it enacted, That the said commissioner shall appoint a surveyor
and chain-carriers for the purpose of laying out said town, and levy and assess on the
several lots and buildings within the limits of said town, as much money, in the
discretion of the same commissioners, as may be necessary to carry this act into
execution.

are to be

    V.  And be it enacted, That in case any one or more of the commissioners
aforesaid should die, refuse to act, or remove from the said town, the remaining
or surviving commissioners shall elect and appoint other or others in the room and
stead of such commissioner or commissioners so dying, refusing to act, or removing
as aforesaid.

                                            CHAP. XXXVI.
An ACT for the appointment of, and conferring powers in, deputies
                            from this state to the federal convention.
Deputies appointed
to

meet in convention,
&c.
    BE it enacted, by the general assembly of Maryland, That the honourable
James McHenry, Daniel of Saint Thomas Jenifer, Daniel Carroll, John
Francis Mercer, and Luther Martin, Esquires, be appointed and authorised,
on behalf of this state, to meet such deputies as may be appointed and authorised
by any other of the United States to assemble in convention at Philadelphia,
for the purpose of revising the federal system, and to join with them in
considering such alterations, and further provisions, as may be necessary to render
the federal constitution adequate to the exigencies of the union, and in reporting
such an act for that purpose to the United States in congress assembled, as, when
agreed to by them, and duly confirmed by the several states, will effectually provide
for the same; and the said deputies, or such of them as shall attend the said
convention, shall have full power to represent this state for the purposes aforesaid;
and the said deputies are hereby directed to report the proceedings of the said convention,
