                                  PRISONERS.

    A general act for the relief of prisoners.  1774, ch.
28.
    The following resolve passed the convention November
11, 1776:
    RESOLVED, That the justices of the several counties
in this state, are hereby authorised and empowered to release
all debtors in their several gaols who may owe upwards
of two hundred pounds sterling money, in the same
manner, and upon the same terms, as debtors may be released
under the act of assembly; provided application be
made by the several debtors, or such of them as may be
desirous of being released, on or before the first day of
January next.
    The acts for the relief of particular persons confined
in gaols, are as follow:  November, 1765, ch. 11, May,
1766, ch. 3, November, 1766, ch. 20, 1768, ch. 26,
1769, ch. 20, November, 1770, ch. 8, 1791, ch. 22,
June, 1773, ch. 12, 1774, ch. 22.
    N. B.  Under these acts 61 insolvent debtors were released
from prison, under the proprietary government.

                        PROVINCIAL COURT.

                                    QUAKERS.

    THE acts of 1747, ch. 17, and 1752, ch. 14, to

                                RELIGION.

    A freedom secured to every different denomination of
the christian religion; but the legislature may lay a tax
for the support of ministers.  Decl. 33.
    Every man in the public councils, or holding an office,
must repeat and subscribe a declaration of belief in the
christian religion.  Const. 55.

                REMAINDER, REVERSION.

    Secured, although the particular estate be forfeited for
treason.  April, 1782, ch. 19.
