of continuance
of any of the said actions, process or proceedings, notwithstanding; and
any suit not heard and determined at the said court, the judges thereof

always, That nothing in this act contained shall extend, or be
construed to extend, in any manner to affect or impeach the act of assembly
passed
at the last session, entitled, An act for the relief of Robert Long. |
Proviso. |
IV. And be it
enacted, That any one of the judges of the said court of appeals,
shall have full power and authority to hold the said court, so far as to
direct process,
to make rules for pleading, and to rule hearing, or to continue the
actions,
process and proceedings, in the said court depending, and to adjourn the
said
court until the day appointed by law for the holding the next court, any
former
law to the contrary thereof notwithstanding. |

V. And,
whereas on appeals from the court of chancery, the judges should
govern themselves by the law of the land, and the rules of justice, equity
and
good conscience; Be it enacted, That
each of the said judges, before he shall fit
as a judge on any appeal from the court of chancery, shall take an oath,
that he
will do equal right and justice, according to law, equity and good conscience,
in
every case in which he shall act as judge, on any appeal from the court
of chancery,
freely without sale, fully without any denial, and speedily without
delay;
which oath either of the said judges may administer, one to the other,
and the
clerk of their court shall make an entry of such qualification in the minutes
of
their proceedings. |

CHAP. XII.
An ACT for the relief of those who have and may
suffer by the British army.
Allowing the commissioners of the tax
to make a deduction from the assessment of those sufferers who
are well affected to the common cause.

CHAP. XV.
An ACT concerning nonjurors. |

BE it enacted,
by the general assembly of Maryland, That the collection of the
treble tax, which nonjurors are liable to pay on the tax imposed by the
act,
entitled, An additional supplement to the act for raising the supplies
for
the year seventeen hundred and seventy-nine, and an act, entitled, An act
for the
assessment of property within this state, and also by an act passed at
the last session
of assembly, entitled, A Supplement to the act for the assessment of property
within
this state, shall be and is hereby suspended until the end of the next
session of
assembly, any thing to the contrary notwithstanding. |

An ACT to prevent frauds in commerce, and to direct the duty of naval
officers.
To continue three years, &c.
It was to have a similar continuance by the act of November, 1783,
ch. 30, but that continuing act, so far as it regards this act, was repealed
by the act of 1784, ch. 79. |

An ACT to continue the act of assembly, entitled, An act to prohibit,
for a limited
time, the exportation of wheat, flour, rye, Indian corn,
rice, bread, beef,
pork, bacon, live stock, peas, beans, oats, and other
victual, and for other purposes. |
