                                            CHAP. XL.
        An ACT to increase the allowance of justices of the peace and jurymen.

    To continue till the end of the next session.  Expired.

                                            CHAP. XLI.
An ACT for the special appointment of inspectors, and to increase their salaries
                                    and the warehouse rent.
                                            CHAP. XLII.
                An ACT for the payment of the journal of accounts.
At a SESSION of the GENERAL ASSEMBLY of
    MARYLAND, begun and held at the city of ANNAPOLIS,
    on Thursday the twenty-third of March,
    in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred

    and eighty, and ended the 16th day of May:  The
    following laws were enacted.

                    THOMAS SIM LEE, Esq; Governor.

                                            CHAP. I.
    An ACT for the adjournment of the general court for the eastern shore.

    From April to the 4th of September next; and the court may continue the causes that cannot then
conveniently be trues to the next term.

                                            CHAP. II.
A Supplement to the act for recruiting the quota of troops of this state in the
                                       American army.

    Allowing to any person, enlisting between the 1st of April and 1st of August next, the same bounties,
privileges and cloathing, as are allowed to recruits under that act.

                                            CHAP. III.
An ACT to aid the proceedings of the commissioners of the tax, and for other
                                             purposes.

    The assessment act not having been transmitted to some of the counties in time, the commissioners had
not qualified, and the collectors could not, by the periods limited, complete their collections.  This act
appoints other days, &c. &c.

                                            CHAP. IV.
        An ACT to compel the attendance of the members of the general assembly.

    By a fine of £. 25 on each member for every day's absence, without such an excuse as shall be admitted
by his respective branch of the legislature, or a written resignation.  The clerk of each house is directed
to send the respective sheriffs a copy of the orders for such fines, to be collected and accounted for as
if they were part of the assessment.
    To continue until the end of the next session.  Continued from session to session until it expired with
the session of October, 1780.

                                            CHAP. V.
An ACT to vest an estate of inheritance in fee-simple of certain lands in Anne-Arundel
    county, in Basil Burgess of the same county, and to enable him to
    sell or otherwise dispose of the same.  PR.
                                            CHAP. VI.
A Supplement to the act for the erecting new warehouses in the town of Bladensburg.

    The original act not having been transmitted in time, by reason of a fire which happened in the printing-office,
the assessment was not made at the time directed, but earlier, the justices having heard of the
act, and mistaken the day.  The assessment is hereby made good; and every person therein concerned is
indemnified.

                                            CHAP. VII.
                    An ACT for the relief of Robert Long.  PR.
