The plantiffe by Joshua Cecell his Attorney Sues the defendant for the full
and Just Sume of Eight hundred and Eighty pounds of good Sound Marchant-
able and Every way well Conditioned Leafe tobaccoe with Caske to Containe
the Same which he unjustly deteyneth etc. as by the Said bill or writeing
obligatory with the proper hand and Scale of the Said James Veetch Signed
bearing date the tenth day of May Annoque Domini 1687. and decleation filed
and boath here in Court produced Appeareth. And the Said Defendant in his
proper person Cometh and defendeth the force and Injury when etc. and prayeth
Lycence here to Appeare and imparle untill next Court and it is granted unto
him the Same day is given to the plantiffe Likewise. Att which Said next Court
(to witt) the 24th day of November Annoque Domini 1696 Came the Said
Thomas Taney Executor aforesaid by his Attorney aforesaid and prayeth that
the Said Nathan Veetch Administrator aforesaid to his decleration may answer
etc. And now here at this day Came the Said Nathan Veetch Administrator
aforesaid and defendeth the force and Injury when etc. And Saith that the Said
James Veetch did Sattisfye and pay unto the Said Michaell Taney in his life-
time the Sume of three hundred and tenn pounds of tobaccoe part of the Said
Sume of Eight hundred and Eighty pounds of tobaccoe aforesaid but as to the
Sume of five hundred and Seaventy pounds of tobaccoe Residue of the Said
Sume of 880 pounds of tobaccoe aforesaid he cannot gainsay but the Same is
Still due in manner and forme as the plantiffe hath declared.

Therefore it is Considered that the Said Thomas Taney Executor aforesaid
Recover against the Said Nathan Veetch Administrator aforesaid of the goods
and Chatties and Chatties which were of the Said James Veetch at the time
of his death as well the Said Sume of five hundred and Seaventy pounds of
tobaccoe Residue of the Debt aforesaid as alsoe the Sume of two hundred
thirty and two lbs. of tobaccoe to the Said Thomas Taney Executor aforesaid
at his Request for his Cost and Charges in this behalfe Expended by the Court
here Adjudged etc. and the Said Nathan Veetch in mercy etc.

William Foster made oath that he Attended as an Evidence for Samuell Wil-
liams at the Suite of Gilbert Clarke five Dayes Whereupon it is ordered that
the Said Samuell Williams pay to the Said William Foster for his Said Five
dayes Attendance one hundred and fifty lbs. of tobaccoe att 30 lbs. of tobacco
for Each day.

Ordered by the Court that Thomas Palmer pay unto Murfy Ward Sixty
pounds of tobacoe being for two dayes Attendance as an Evidence for him
against John Smith.

The Court Adjourned for one hower and then mett and Satt as Followeth
(Viz.)

John Chapman Late of Prince Georges County planter was Atteched to
Answer unto Thomas Bridges of a plea of trespass upon the Case etc.

And Whereupon the Said Thomas by Joshua Cecell his Attorney Complayneth
that whereas the Said John the 25th day of June in the year of our Lord 1694
att Calvert County that is to Say Att Charles Towne within the Jurisdiction of
this Court Stood Indebted unto the Said Thomas in the Sume of Six hundred
