324 PRINCE GEORGES COUNTY

John Cooper Demands Subpoena for Mary Dove to testify inter he and
Charletts Administrator: warrant etc. to Subpoena and returne ut Supra.

The afore written Docquett of Writts and Subpoenas was Returned by
Thomas Greenfeild Sheriffe.

[296] March Court 1697

Att Prince Georges County Court held att Charles Towne the twenty
Second day of March in the tenth yeare of the Reigne of our Sovereigne Lord
William the third by the grace of God of England Scotland France and Ireland
King Defender of the faith etc: Annoque Domini 1697 [1698] By his Majesties
Justices thereunto Appointed and Authorized (Viz.)

Present. Mr. Thomas Hollyday, Mr. Robert Wade, Mr. Samuell Magruder,

Mr. Thomas Sprigg, Commisoners.

Ordered that the Sheriffe Summons Mr. Robert Bradley to Come into Court
Imediatly to take the Oath of Justice of the Peace for this County. Whereupon
Mr. Robert Bradley Appeared in Court and the Commission for the Peace in
this County being Read Mr. Robert Bradley made Answer that hee was willing to
Serve the King and Country but at present thought himselfe not Capable of Serv-
ing in the quallity of a Justice for the Peace therefore hee Refused to take the
Oaths etc.

Then for want of more Justices the Court Adjournd untill to morrow morning
tenn a Clock etc. And then Satt.

Present. Mr. Thomas Hollyday, Mr. Robert Tylor, Mr. Robert Wade, Mr.

Samuell Magruder, Mr. Thomas Sprigg, Commissoners.

John Gardiner in his owne person Appeared to his Recognizance gave the Last
Court etc.

Thomas Keniston presmaster being Sumoned and not Appearing was fined
Nici Cause five hundred pounds of tobaccoe but presently after the Said Keniston
Appeared in Court and Shew Reasons etc. whereupon the Fine aforesaid was
Remitted etc. And it is ordered by the Court here that the Said Thomas Kensiton
be Continued Presmaster the year Ensueing for Mattapony hundred etc.

Ordered that Edward Fenix be Continued presmaster for Mount Calvert
hundred the Ensueing yeare. Ordered that Christopher Thompson be presmaster
for Collington hundred the Ensueing yeare. Ordered that Robert Anderson be
Continued presmaster for Pattuxent hundred the Ensueing yeare. Ordered that:
Gaun Hambleton be presmaster for New Scotland hundred the Ensueing yeare.
Ordered that: James Coghill be presmaster for Pescattaway hundred the Ensue-
ing yeare.

John Perry the Sonn of Susanah Perry being four years old next August by the
Consent of his Mother is bound unto George Prater untill hee Arrives unto
twenty one years of Age the Said Prater to doe his Endeavor to Learne the Said
Child to Read and write and at the Expiration of his time to give him two Suites
of Apparrell the one Keirsey the other Serge with two of a Sort of all other
necessary Apparrell.
