Richard Edwards plantiffe: Courtny Crotoff Defendant

The plantiffe by John Meriton his Attorney Sues the Defendant in a plea of
Debt for four hundred lbs. of tobaccoe due by bill bearing date the 21th day of
January 1696 [1697] as by the Decleration filed Appeareth etc. And the Said
Courtny Crotoffe by William Bladen his Attorney Cometh and Defendeth the
force and Injury when etc. and Craveth Lycence thereof to Imparle here untill
the next Court and it is granted unto him the Same day is given to the plantiffe
Likewise. Att which Said next Court to witt the 25 day of January Annoque
Domini 1697 [1698] Came here as well the Said Richard Edwards by his Attorney
Aforesaid as the Said Courtny Crotoffe by his Attorney Aforesaid And the Said
Richard Edwards prayeth that the Said Courtny Crotoffe to his Decleration
aforesaid may Answer etc. Whereupon Came the Said Courtny Crotoff by William
Bladen his Attorney Cometh and defendeth the force and Injury when etc. And
Saith nothing in barr of the Action of the Said Richard Edwards by which the
Said Richard Edwards Remaineth against the Said Courtny Crotoffe thereof
without Defence etc.

[293] Therefore itt is Considered that the Said Richard Edwards Recover
against the Said Courtny Crotoffe the Sume of four hundred pounds of tobaccoe
his Debt Aforesaid And his Damages by Occation of Deteyneing the Said Debt
two hundred and Sixty pounds of tobaccoe to the Said Richard Edwards of his
Assent by the Court here Adjudged etc. And the Said Crotny Crotoffe in mercy
etc.
