PREFACE TO VOL. III. THE Legislature of Maryland has manifested its high ap- preciation of the labors of Chancellor Johnson, by subscrib- ing for one hundred and ninety copies of these Reports, as will appear by the following Act of Assembly of January Session, 1853, chap. 263. The same appropriation was made, also by a nearly unanimous vote, for the first and second volumes of this work, at the Session of 1852. "An Act to purchase Copies of the Third Volume of Maryland Chancery Decisions, for the use of the Courts of each County, and for the benefit of the State Library. Passed May 24,1863. " SECT. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the State Librarian is hereby authorized to purchase one hundred and ninety copies of the third volume of the Maryland Chancery Decisions, published by James Wingate, to be distributed by said Librarian as the Reports of the Court of Appeals are distributed. " SECT. 2. And be it enacted, That said volume of Maryland Chancery Decisions shall not contain less than six hundred pages, and that the price, to the State, of said volume, shall be five dollars per volume. " SECT. 3. And be it enacted, That upon the presentation of the receipt of the State Librarian, that eoid volumes have been delivered to the State Library, the Comptroller of the Treasury shall issue his warrant to the Treasurer to pay said James Wingate for the said Maryland Chancery De- cisions, at the rate of five dollars for each and every volume purchased. |
