era, and all bills of costs for hire of persons and

teams, or for other expenses incurred in repairing
|

the public roads, shall, when approved by the county
|
 
|
|
commissioners by endorsement thereon, be receiva-
|
 
|
|
ble for the party to whom due, or his assignee in
|
 
|
|
writing, in payment of county taxes due by the law-
|
 
|
|
ful holder thereof.
|
 
|
|
SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the several super-
|
 
|
|
visors shall make general repairs of the roads, within
|

their districts, at least twice in each year; once prior

to the fifteenth of May, and once prior to the fifteenth
|
 
|

of September, and the county commissioners shall
|
 
|
|
fix and regulate, from time to time, the prices to be
|
 
|

paid by supervisors for the hire of necessary teams
|
 
|
|
and laborers to execute any work under this law.
|
 
|
|
SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the several super-
|
 
|
|
visors shall report semi-annually, in June and No-
|

vember, to the county commissioners, the state of the
|

incurred under this law, the amount of money paid
|
 
|
|
out by them in constructing and repairing roads,
|
 
|
|
with the vouchers for the same, that each supervisor
|
 
|
|
shall be entitled to receive two dollars per day, for

each day he is actually employed on the roads for
|
 
|
|
the said commissioners, and shall be wholly exempt,
|
 
|
|
during his time of service, from militia duty and
|
 
|
|
from service on juries.

|
SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That in addition to. the
|
 
|
|
proper proportion of the general road tax, levied for
|
 
|
|
ordinary expenses of roads and bridges within the

county, the county commissioners shall have power,

|
in their discretion, upon the petition of thirty or
|
 
|
|
more land owners within any road district, to levy
|
 
|
|
upon the assessable property, within such road district
|
 
|
|
an additional special tax of not more than ten cents
|
 
|
|
on the hundred dollars, to be collected as other
|
 
|
|
county taxes, and to be expended under the direc-
|
 
|
|
tion of the county commissioners, in the improve-
|
 
|
|
ment of the roads within said district.

|
|
SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That any supervisor may
|
 
|
|
be sued before any justice of the peace in an action
