tal stock.

poration, and may from time to time repeal, change
and amend the same; and should paid president and
directors determine to increase the capital stock of
the said company as authorized in the second section
of this act, they, or a majority of them, shall give the
same notice of the time and place of subscribing such
additional stock as is provided in the preceding
sections.

Authorized to
lay pipes.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That so soon as the same
shall be organized by the election of its directors and
president, as herein before provided, it shall be lawful
for the said company and it is hereby authorized to
proceed to lay or cause to be laid along and under
the streets, squares, lanes and alleys, of the City of
Baltimore, paved or unpaved, such and as many pipes
as may be necessary to carry the gas from their man-
ufactories which they are authorized to establish and
carry on within said city, and also to supply with light
any dwelling house or other buildings, or place what-
ever belonging to any individual or individuals or
corporation, adjacent to any such street, square, lane,
alley, in and along which the said pipes shall be so
laid, and the same from time to time repair, renew

or remove; provided, always, that the said company
shall not, in any manner injure. or displace any of
the pipes laid, or to be laid, for the purpose of sup-
plying water to said city, or any of the pipes then or
thereafter laid, by any other gas company incorpo-
rated under the laws of this State with power to lay
pipes in said city; and provided, also, that the com-
pany hereby incorporated shall immediately after

and always within two days after being thereto re-
quired by the Mayor or City Commissioner, cause to
be filled up, repaired and repaved at the expense of
said company every such street, or apart of a street,
square, lane or alley, as the company may find it

altering, repairing, renewing or removing any pipe
