AN ACT to provide for the payment of a sum of money to I. Nevitt Steele, Philip F. Thomas and S. Teackle Wallis, for professional services ren-dered the State, in the prosecution of its claims against the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the Comptroller of the Treasury, be and he is hereby authorized and directed to issue his warrant upon the Treasurer, for the payment to I. Nevitt Steele, Philip F. Thomas, and S. Teackle Wallis, of the sum of three thousand dollars each, as soon after the passage of this bill as may be compatible with the interests of the State, and also, the further sum of two thousand dollars each, when all the cases of the State against the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company, involving the question of the " Capitation tax, " shall reach a final decision in the court of last resort, if they shall conduct said cases therein, or in- case of a final adjustment of said controversy, in full compensation for professional services rendered the State in prosecuting its claims against the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated.
