Repealed and Re-enacted.
|
of the acts passed January session eighteen hundred and seventy-four, entitled "an act to authorize the construction of fire-proof vaults in the Court House in Easton, " be, and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted so as to read as follows:

Authorized to levy.
|
1. The County Commissioners of Talbot county, be, and they are hereby authorized and required to levy on the assessable property of said county at their next levy term, the sum of four thousand dollars, to be collected as other taxes are collected, for the purpose of constructing two fire-proof vaults in the Court House in Easton; which said vaults shall be constructed inside of the outer walls of said court house, so as to be convenient and accessible to the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court, and the office of the Register of Wills for said county, and be used for the preservation of the public records belonging to the said offices respectively.

Committee.
|
2. James Dixon, E. L. F. Hardcastle and John C. Harper, arc hereby appointed a committee to devise a suitable plan for said fire-proof vaults, and to contract with the lowest responsible bidder after public advertisement, for the construction and completion of the same, at a cost not to exceed the sum of four thousand dollars, and on the approval of the work by

Pay contract'r

said committee, and not before, the said commissioners for Talbot county, shall pay the contractor for work done and materials furnished under his contract.

Fill vacancies.
|
3. In the event of the death, resignation, or removal from the county of any member of said committee, the commissioners of said county are hereby empowered to fill up the committee whenever. such vacancy occurs.

Duties.
|
4. It is hereby made the duty of the Clerk of the Circuit Court, and the duty of the Register of Wills of Talbot county, to keep the public records belonging to their respective offices, stored in said vaults whenever the same are completed, at all times except when said records are being used, and the bonds
