LAWS OF MARYLAND.

 

of October a discount of one per cent shall be made;
on all taxes paid during the month of November a
discount of one half of one per cent shall be made;
and upon all bills paid during the month of Decem-
ber the amount thereof, without discount or interest
shall be required, but upon all bills remaining unpaid
after that time, interest shall be charged and collec-
ted from the date when they shall have been due and
payable.

son.

SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty
of the treasurer to attend in person or by deputy in
each election district two days between the first day
of September and thirty-first day of December in
each year for the purpose of receiving taxes, and the
place and time of such visit shall be made known,
not less than one week in advance, by handbills con-
spicuously posted in various places of the district;
and he shall attend in same mariner in the City of
Baltimore, one day in each month, for the like pur-
pose, and the time and place shall be announced at
least one week in advance, by advertisement one
day in some newspaper published in the said city,
and the entire yearly expenses for these duties shall
in no case exceed the sum of one hundred dollars in
addition to his salary.

SEC. 11. Be it enacted, That on the first Monday
of February following, he shall prepare and publish
two several times in two newspapers issued in Balti-
more county, having the largest circulation, and one
in the City of Baltimore, a list of all delinquent tax-
payers setting forth the name of the person to whom
the property is assessed, where located, the year for
which the taxes are due, -and the original amount of
the same, all of which shall be embraced in a single
line.

SEC. 12. Be it enacted. That if any taxes so levied
shall not be paid according to thia act, prior to the
first day of April in the year following that on which
they shall have been levied, the treasurer shall send
by mail to the person, or his agent, by whom the
same is due, addressed to the supposed nearest post-
office, a copy of the said tax bill with the interest
due and a notice annexed, stating that unless the
