of such fines, penalties and forfeitures the offender
shall be committed to the lockup or jail of the town
for a period not exceeding ten days.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 141.

 

AN ACT to authorize the County Commissioners of
Anne Arundel county, to construct a bridge over
Beard's Creek in said county, and to levy a sum of
money for said purpose.

Authorized,
and empow-
ered.

SECTION 1. Be, it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the County Commissioners of Anne
Arundel county, be and they are hereby authorized
and empowered to erect a free bridge for the passage
of man, beast and vehicles across Beards Creek in
Anne Arundel county, at such point above Taylors-
ville, as to the said commissioners shall be deemed
best and most convenient to the community, said
bridge to be of such width and dimensions as the
said commissioners shall determine upon, and to be
kept up after its construction at the expense of said
county.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the said
commissioners, are hereby further authorized and
empowered to levy such sum upon the assessable
property of said county, as shall be necessary for the
construction of said bridge, and for keeping the same
in repair, after the same shall have been built, pro-

the sum of twenty-five hundred dollars.
