214 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAPTER 140.

AN ACT to repeal sections thirty-six, thirty-seven,
thirty-eight, thirty-nine, forty, forty-one, forty-two,
forty-three, forty-four, forty-five, forty-seven, forty-
eight, forty-nine, fifty and fifty-one, of article eight
of the Code of Public Local Laws, title " Cecil
County, " and relating to Chesapeake city, also to
repeal an act entitled " an act to repeal section
forty-six of article eight of the Code of Public
Local Laws, relating to the collection of taxes,
fines and forfeitures in Chesapeake city, " passed
April, eighteen hundred and sixty-one, chapter
eighty-seven, and to re-enact the same with amend-
ments.

Repealed and
re-enacted.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That sections thirty-six, thirty-seven, thir-
ty-eight, thirty-nine, forty, forty-one, forty-two, for-
ty-three, forty-four, forty-five, forty-seven, forty-eight
forty-nine, fifty and fifty-one, of article eight of the
Code of Public Local Laws, title "Cecil County, "
and relating to Chesapeake city; also an act to re-
peal section forty-six of the Code of Public Local
Laws, relating to the collection of taxes, fines, and
forfeitures in Chesapeake city, passed April eighteen
Hundred and sixty-one, chapter eighty-seven, be and
the same are hereby repealed and re-enacted so as
to read as follows:

Corporation.

36. The inhabitants of the town of Chesapeake
city, in Cecil county, are a corporation by the name
of the President and Commissioners of Chesapeake
city, and by that name shall have perpetual succes-
sion, may sue and be sued, may purchase, he I'd and
dispose of real, personal and mixed property for the
use and benefit of said town, and may have and use
a common seal, which may be altered at pleasure.

Male inhabi-
tants.

37. All male inhabitants of said town, citizens of
the United States, above twenty-one years of age,
who shall have bona-fide resided in said town for the
