CHAPTER 136.

AN ACT to repeal section forty-eight of an act of
the General Assembly of Maryland, entitled " an
act to amend the charter of the City of Cumber-
land by repealing sections twenty-two, &c., passed
at the January session of the General Assembly
of Maryland, eighteen hundred and seventy-four,
chapter one hundred; also to repeal section fifty-
two of article one, of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland, title "Allegany county, " sub-
title "Cumberland, " and to re-enact the same with
amendments.

Repealed and
re-enacted.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by Thee General Assembly of
Maryland, That section forty-eight of chapter one
hundred, entitled "an act to amend the charter of
the City of Cumberland, by repealing sections twen-
ty-two, &c., " passed at the January session of the
General Assembly of Maryland, eighteen hundred
and seventy-four, and approved March the twenty-
seventh, eighteen hundred and seventy-four, and
section fifty-two of article one, of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, title "Allegany county, "
sub-title "Cumberland, " be and the same are hereby
repealed and re-enacted so as to read as follows:

SECTION 48. All orders or resolutions for the ap-
propriation of money from the city treasury whether
for special or general purposes, and all ordinances
passed by the city council, shall be attested by the
clerk and approved by the mayor; if the mayor shall
disapprove any ordinance, resolution or order so
passed by the city council, he shall return the same
with his reasons therefor at the next regular or spe-
cial meeting of the city council, when, if passed by
three-fourths of all the members elected to said city
council, it shall be an ordinance, resolution or order,

to all intents and purposes as if it had been approved
by the mayor; and if the mayor shall fail to return
any ordinance, resolution or order, so passed by said
city council, with his approval or disapproval at its
next regular meeting, such ordinance, resolution or
