CHAPTER 87.
AN ACT to provide for the proper representation
of the State of Maryland at the celebration of the
one hundredth Anniversary of American Indepen-
dence.
SECTION 1. Be if enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the sum of fifteen thousand dollars,
or so much thereof as may be necessary, be, and the
same is hereby appropriated for the purpose of de-
fraying the expenses incident to the representation
of the manufactures, the products of the soil and
mines of the State, and its progress at the Interna-
tional Exhibition to be held in the City of Philadel-
phia, in the State of Pennsylvania in the present year.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said sum so
appropriated, shall be disbursed by, and under the di-
rection of John H. B. Latrobe and Samuel M. Shoe-
maker, or their successors, Commissioners on the
commission, authorized and constituted under and by
virtue of an act of the Congress of the United States,
to provide for celebrating the one hundredth Anni-
versary of American Independence, and that said com-
missioners, or their successors are hereby authorized
and empowered to expend the said sum of money,
or so much thereof as may be necessary, for the pur-

poses aforesaid, in their discretion, and the Comp-
troller is hereby directed to draw warrants upon the
treasurer for such sums as said commissioners may
require, not exceeding the amount herein appropri-
ated, and the treasurer be and is hereby directed to
pay the same.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its approval by the Governor.
