burial. But the town need not have consisted of houses standing side by
side and standing in streets or lanes. The tract of land on which it was
situated was enjoyed by a separate* community, and it mattered 66
nothing if the houses were scattered up and down the township. Indeed,
a town may, it is said, be a very good town although not a house remains
standing. In Ireland the word retains its original signification, and ac-
cording to Miss Edgeworth, English visitors are often perplexed by its
application. Now, if dower has been received in the same parish or in any
other territorial subdivision, but not out of the same town, the writ will
not be abated. And thirdly, the dower must have been received before the
writ purchased, 2 Inst. 261.
Where the widow has so received part of her dower, she is put to her
writ of right of dower to recover the residue, F. N. B. 8 C.
