Commissioners, Sheriff, or Un-
der-Sheriff of the same County,
when they shall be reason-
ably warned, to ride with the
said Justices, Commissioners,
and Sheriff, or Under-Sheriff,
220* in aid to resist such
Riots, Routs, and Assemblies,
upon Pain of Imprisonment,
and to make Fine and Ransom
to the King; (6) and that the
Bailiffs of Franchises shall
cause to be impanelled suffi-
cient Persons as before, upon
Pain to lose to the King forty
Pounds, in case that such suf-
ficient Persons may be found
within the same Franchises;
(7) and that like Ordinances
and Pains shall hold place,
and take effect in Cities, Bo-
roughs. and other Places and
Towns infranchised, which
have Justices of the Peace
within the Cities, Boroughs,
Towns, and other Places afore-
said; (8) and that this Statute
shall begin to hold place pre-
sently after the Proclamation
thereof made.

A riot shall be repressed and inquired of at the King's Charges. The
Punishment of Rioters. Each able Person shall be assistant to the Justices
and Sheriff to repress Riots. Bailiffs of Franchises. Riots committed in
Cities, Boroughs, and Towns Corporate. 19 H. 7, c. 13.
See the note to 17 R 2, c. 8- The first section of this Statute, rehearsing
Stat. 13 H. 4, c. 7, provides that commissions shall be awarded to inquire
of riots, and of the defaults of the Justices and Sheriffs, upon which the
Coroners shall return the inquest, &c., and also for a writ out of Chancery
to enquire of riots, &c. We have no such inquiries as those mentioned in the
first section, which is therefore not included. And perhaps the second
