ANNO NONO HENRICI III.
CAP. VII.
A Widow shall have her Marriage, Inheritance and Quarantine

A widow, after the death of
her husband, incontinent, and
without any difficulty, shall
have her marriage and her in-
heritance (2) and shall give
nothing for her dower, her mar-
riage, or her inheritance, which
her husband and she lield the
day of the deatli of her hus-
band, (3) and she shall tarry
in the chief house of her hns-
baud by forty days after the
death of her husband, within
which days her dower sliall be
assigned her (if it were not
assigned her before) or tliat
the house be a castle; (4) and
if she depart from the castle,
then a competent house shall
be forthwith provided for her,
in the which she may honestly
dwell, until her dower be to
her assigned, as it is aforesaid;
and she sliall have in the
meantime lier reasonable es-
tovers of the common ; (5) and
for her dower sliall be assigned
unto her the third part of all
the lands of her husband,

assignata vel nisi domus ilia
sit castrum et si de castro re-
