William: Coulborne or Order the Sum of two thousand pound of good leaf tobacco and place to the accompt of Sr / yr Loving friend to Comd. Geo: Layfield To Capt. Henry Smith Merchant at Monokin. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - December 24th: 1689. Then Recd of Capt. Henry Smith the Contents of the within mentioned note note being Two thousand pounds of tobacco I say recd pr me. William Coulborne Junr. receit endorsed ------ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - February. 23th. 1688: Received then from John: Strawbridge Seaven hundred and eighty pounds of tobacco neat for the use of George: Layfield Esqr. by the Order and upon the accompt of Capt. Henry Smith.I say recd pr me his William: WP Planner Tobacco Recd by the Order of Capt. Smith for the use of George Layfield Esqr marke p Sundry persons. anno. 1688/9 Andrew:Allexandr by Robert Catlins 368 at Thomas Tulls ditto Catlins - - - - - - - - - - - 388 at mr. Strawbridges. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 790 Out of which foresd receits for the use of Joseph:ffreeman at Myles Grayes. - - 400 and this Opposit accompt, with another accompt for the use of Capt. Smith ditto Grays.. - - - - - - 200 which was produced in Court by the defts Attorney for the use of Isaac: Hilliard ditto Grays - - - - - - 316 all which Articles were accepted and are here at Randall. Douglasses. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 380 included, except one Article of 7000lb. & some at Thomas: Manloes. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 450 odd number which was by the Court excepted at Owen: Megraughs. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 1260 agt./ And there fore the Court Ordered mr at mr Woolfords. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 400 Peter: Dent and John: West to draw up 4952 an exact accompt out of the foresd receits and accompts sd physgick accepted viz 7000lb tob The accompt whereof is as followeth.
