registered; and the qualified voters of each alder- '
man district shall, at the polls in their respective
wards, vote for an Alderman; one Alderman shall
be chosen from each of said five alder-manic dis-
tricts, and shall be voted for at the polls in the wards
comprising said district, by the qualified voters of
such district, and none others. The elections shall
be held at such places in such ward as the judges of
election of the ward may prescribe, and the polls
shall be kept open from nine o'clock in the morning
until five o'clock in the afternoon.
Sue. 85. The Board of Common Council shall be
composed of ten members, one from each of said ten '
wards of the city, who shall be elected in the man-'
ner following, that is to say: " the qualified voters
of each of said wards shall elect one member of said
Common Council; the election shall be by wards,
and no person shall he entitled. to vote for any but
the member for the ward of which lie is an actual
resident, (except as hereinafter stated,) and in and
for which lie is registered; the said election shall be
held on the last Monday in February, eighteen hun-
dred and seventy-three, and on that day in every,
year thereafter; and shall be held by the same judges
of election by whom, and at the same polls in the
several wards at which the election for Mayor and
an Alderman may be held, when such election for
Mayor, Aldermen and Common Councilman shall
occur on the same day and in the same year, and at
such other places in the several wards as may lie
designated by the judges of election for the re-
spective wards,'' when an election for members of
the Common Council only occurs; and the polls
shall be kept open during the same hours herein-
after named for the election of Mayor and Alderman .
SEC 87. No person shall be Alderman of said city
unless he shall be at the time of his election a citi-
zen of the United States, above the age of twenty-one years, and shall have been at the time of his
election a resident of the city one year, and a resi-
dent of the aldermanic district for which he is
elected for fix months next preceding his election,
