Arundel county, at any time after the construction
of said bridge, to assume control of the same, and
maintain it as a free bridge by paying to the owners
thereof the cost of the structure, without any allow-
ance for repairs* that may have been made upon it;
and the said County Commissioners are hereby
authorized, in case of such purchase, to levy upon the
taxable property of the county such amount of money
as shall be necessary to defray such cost, in such
manner as to them may seem most conducive to the
public welfare.
SEC. 19. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from and after the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 325.
AN ACT to repeal section fifty-nine of the Act of
eighteen hundred and sixty-eight, chapter four
hundred and seventy-one, entitled "an Act" to re-
peal article twenty-six of the Code of Public Gen-
eral Laws, and to enact a substitute therefor; and
to repeal section twenty-two of article sixteen,
section ninety-nine to one hundred and three of
the same article, and sections thirty-throe to forty-
three of article eighty-eight, of the Code of Public
General Laws, and re-enact the same so as to read
as follows:
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That section fifty-nine of the Act of
eighteen hundred and sixty-eight, chapter four hun-
dred and seventy-one, entitled " an Act to repeal
article twenty-six, of the Code of Public General
Laws, and to enact a substitute therefor, and to re-
peal section twenty-two of article sixteen, section
