CHAPTER 267.
AN ACT for the protection of Terrapins in the
waters of Dorchester county.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That it shall be unlawful for non-residents
of Dorchester county to take, catch, destroy, or dredge
for terrapins in the waters of said county; any per-
son or persons violating the provisions of this Act,
upon conviction before any Justice of the Peace of
said county, shall forfeit and pay the sum of not less
than fifty dollars, nor more than one hundred dol-
lars, and stand committed to the jail of said county
until the same shall have been paid; one-half of said
fine to go to the informer, the other half to be paid
into the treasury of the school fund of said county
by the Justice of the Peace before whom the case
may have been tried.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 269.
AN ACT to authorize the County Commissioners
of Washington county to subscribe to the stock of
the Williamsport and Downsville Turnpike Com-
pany of said county.
SUCTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the County Commissioners of Wash-
ington county be and they are hereby authorized and
empowered to subscribe for such portion of the capi-
tal stock of the Williamsport and Downsville Turn-
pike Company as they, in their discretion, may deem
proper, in the name of and for the benefit of said
county, and shall be entitled to be represented at all
