hereby imposed and conferred on said bailiff' in as
full and ample manner as if the several provisions of
tire said article and its supplements and amendments
relating to the collection of county taxes were herein
expressly enacted.
SEC. 21. And be it enacted, That said commissioners
shall cause each male inhabitant of said town over
twenty-one years of age, who does not pay taxes, to
work upon the streets, lanes and alleys of said town,
under the supervision of the bailiffs, at least one and
not more than two days in each and every year, and
if any person as aforesaid, after having been sum-
moned in writing one day previous to the day ap-
pointed by the bailiff for working on the streets, shall
fail to appear or provide some one in his stead, the
said person shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and
upon conviction thereof before a Justice of the Peace,
shall be fined not exceeding two dollars.
22. And be it enacted, That the commissioners of
said town shall publish annually a full and complete
statement of their receipts and disbursements, in
that newspaper printed in the town of Salisbury
making the lowest charge for publishing the same.
SEC. 23. And be it enacted, That the commissioners
now in office shall remain and continue to be com-
missioners of Salisbury until the first election under
this Act, and until their successors are elected and
qualified, and all their acts shall have the same
effect, and be as binding in law, as if this Act had
not been passed.
SEC. 24. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
