CHAPTER 191.
AN ACT to repeal section one, of article sixty-
seven, of the Code of Public General Laws, relating
to Notaries Public, and to re-enact the same so as
to read as follows:
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That section one, of article sixty-seven, of
the Code of Public General Laws, entitled " Notaries
Public," be and the same is hereby repealed,** -
so as to read as follows:
SEC. 1. The Governor, by and with the advice and
consent of the Senate, shall appoint and commission,
a competent number of persons of known good
character, integrity and abilities, citizens of the
United States, and who have resided in this State
two years previous to their appointment, as Notaries
Public for the State of Maryland, to reside within
such place or places within the State, as the Gover-
nor shall in and by their respective commissions
designate, but there shall not be at any time,
more than five notaries, one of which shall be con-
versant with the German language, appointed and
commissioned to reside within the City of Baltimore.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
