The bill, as amended, was then read a second time and
ordered to be engrossed for a third reading. ,
Mr. Stephenson moved to reconsider the vote by which the
order submitted by Mr. Williams, in relation to the presen-
tation of bills ton days before the date of adjournment.
Which was adopted.
Mr. Stephenson moved to amend the said order as follows :
Strike out the words, "and filed at the desk of the Secre-
tary of the Senate," in said order.
Which was adopted.
Said order, as amended, was then adopted.
The Senate bill, entitled an Act to authorize the Town
Commissioners of Newtown to endorse the bonds of the Wor-
cester and Somerset Railroad Company to the amount of five
thousand dollars,
Being upon its second reading,
Mr. Timmons submitted the following amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Amend by adding as section 3:
SEC. 3. And be it enacted. That the said Railroad Company
shall pay the interest on the bonds, endorsed according to
the provisions of this Act, semi-annually ; but should they
fail so to do, then the Town Commissioners, aforesaid, shall
levy annually a tax upon the property of said town sufficient
to pay the same.
Section 3 to be section 4.
Which was adopted.
Said bill, as amended, was then read the second time, and
ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.
The Senate hill, entitled an Act to authorize the County
Commissioners of Dorchester county to aid in the construc-
tion of the Vienna Railroad,
Was read a second time, and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.
The Senate hill, entitled an Act to provide for the appoint-
ment of a Treasurer, and a more economical collection of
taxes in Anne Arundel county,
Being upon its second reading,
