powers, not inconsistent with (lie provisions of this Act, as
may be conferred upon them by the resolutions and by-laws of
said Company.
7. The Directors of said Company, four of whom shall al-
ways constitute a quorum for the transaction of business,
shall select one of their own number to act as President of
said Company, who shall have such power and authority,
and perform such duties as President, as may be prescribed
by the by-laws of said Company; and the said Directors
shall have power to appoint and remove all officers, agents
and servants of the said Company, to manage and conduct all
its business of every kind, to borrow money at any time, and
from time to time, as in their judgment the exigences of the
Company may require, and to execute, if deemed by them
necessary and expedient, any deed or deeds of mortgage as
security for the (fulfilment by said Company of any of its
contracts or other liabilities.
Sec. 2 And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage, and the General Assembly re-
serves the right to alter, amend or repeal this Act at plea-
sure.
The amendments were then severally adopted, and

The Senate bill entitled an Act to amend and re-enact sec-
tion 3, of Article V. of the Code of Public General Laws, title,
"Appeals,"

The bill entitled an Act to authorize the United States to
procure the condemnation of lands within the State of Mary-
land for certain public purposes, and ceding the jurisdiction
thereof, when so condemned, to the United States,
Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.
The bill entitled an Act to confirm an Act passed at Jan-
uary Session, 1870, chapter 285, entitled an Act to authorize
the County Commissioners of Montgomery county to subscribe
to the capital stock of turnpike roads in said county,
Was read a third time and passed by yeas and nays, as
follows:
