Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to confer upon the State of Mary-
land Mutual Fire Insurance Company, of Baltimore city, the
power to declare and make the premium notes of said Com-
pany liens upon the real estate insured by said Company,

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to authorize the Frederick and
Pennsylvania Line Railroad Company to build a railroad
from Frederick city, the terminus of the road, which it is
authorized under its charter to build through Frederick and
Montgomery counties to the boundary of the District of Co-
lumbia, so as to make a distinct connection with the city of
Washington,

Being upon a second reading,

Mr. Ritter submitted the following amendment:

Section 1, line 11, insert after the word "determine" the
words : connecting with, or crossing the Baltimore and Ohio,
or any other railroad.

The amendment was adopted, and the bill as amended
read a second time, and ordered to be engrossed for a third
reading.

The bill entitled an Act to authorize the County Commis-
sioners of Carroll county to indemnify William Shaw for the
destruction of his ptoperty in the city of Westminster, by a
mob, in April, 1865, and to levy a sum of money for the pay-
ment of such indemnity,

Was read a second time, and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to repeal section 187 of Act March
11, of the Code of Public Local Laws of Frederick county,
relating to the number of Justices of the Peace and Constables,
and to amend and re-enact said sections, as follows,

Was read a second time, and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to rectify and confirm an ordinance
of the 'Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, entitled an ordi-
nance to provide for the improvement of Jones' Falls within
the limits of the city of Baltimore, and open avenues and
construct sewers on the bordeis thereof,

Being upon a second reading,

Mr. Blake submitted the following amendments ;
