338 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS | Feb. 12,

Which was read, and on motion of Mr. Brattan,
Concurred in.

The bill entitled an Act to provide for the protection of
sheep in Queen Anne's county, and for re-imbursing owners
of sheep for damages sustained by them in the killing or
injuring of sheep by dogs,

Being upon a second reading,

On motion of Mr. Hardcastle, of Caroline,

Was recommitted to the Committee reporting the same.

The bill entitled an Act to repeal the seventh section
of Article 28, of the Code of Public General Laws, relating
to the correction of errors in the assessment of property not
liable to be assessed, and inserting in said Article in lieu of
the section so repealed, the following section relating to said
subject,

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The hour having arrived for taking up the order of the
day,

The House proceeded to the consideration of the bill en-
titled an Act to incorporate Towsontowu, Baltimore county.

Said bill being upon a second reading.

The bill was then read a second time, and ordered to be

engrossed for a third reading.

The House then resumed the consideration of the next

order of the day,

Being the bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of
money for the purchase of a lot of ground, in which. to inter
the remains of the Confederate dead at Point Lookout in St.
Mary's county, whilst prisoners of war during the late civil
strife, and enclose and ornament the same.

Said bill being upon a second reading,

Mr. Martin submitted the following amendment:

Section 1, line 2, strike out the word "shall," and insert
the word "may."

The amendment was adopted,

And the bill as amended read a second time, and ordered
to be engrossed for a third reading.

The Joint Resolutions in relation to the payment of the
six per cent, dividend by the, Baltimore and Ohio Railroad
Company, upon the $3,000,000 of stock subscribed by the
State,
