LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Levy tax.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the Commission-
ers of the Town of Easton are hereby authorized
and empowered to raise by a levy on the taxable
property of the Town of Easton, the sum of three
thousand dollars in manner following, that is to
say : the sum of fifteen hundred dollars to be levied
and collected on or before the first day of Septem-
ber eighteen hundred and seventy ; and the further
sum of fifteen hundred dollars to he levied and

collected on or before the first of May, eighteen
hundred and seventy-one; for the purpose of erect-
ing a new Market House in said town, to be col-
lected as other taxes are collected in said town.

Committee.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That E. L. F. Hard-
castle, John Mason and Samuel T. Hopkins, be
and they are hereby contituted a Committee for
the purpose of contracting for and superintending
the erection of new Market House in said town,
and the Commissioners of the Town of Easton are
hereby directed to pay over to the said Committee
or to their order, or the order of a majority of
them, the amount heretofore authorized to be
levied ; or the said Committee are hereby author-
ized, if in their judgment the same should be

necessary, to borrow the whole or any part of the
aforesaid sum of money; and for the payment
thereof, the said Commissioners of the Town of
Easton shall execute and deliver to the said Com-
mittee the corporate note of said town with interest
thereon, payable at such times and on such terms
as said Committee shall designate, and the sum
hereinbefore authorized to be levied, shall be pledged
to the redemption of said loan to the extent thereof.

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.
