Article nine, of the Code of Public Local Laws
for Charles County, be and the same is hereby
amended by adding thereto the following, viz :

Amended.

"And the said Sheriff may be allowed by said
Commissioners, in their discretion, any sum they
may deem reasonable for the payment of any per-
son necessarily employed by him in the custody
and safe-keeping of such prisoners so confined in
jail."

CHAPTER 436.

 

AN ACT entitled a supplement to an Act entitled
an Act to incorporate the Broadway and Locust
Point Steam Ferry Company of Maryland, and
to grant, on certain conditions the right to use
the wharf known as the County Wharf, approved
March twenty-eighth, eighteen hundred and
sixty-eight.

 

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Broadway and Locust
Point Steam Ferry Company of Maryland, incor-
porated under the Act of Assembly, to which this
is a supplement, be and it is hereby authorized and
empowered to occupy and use the wharf at the foot
of Haubert street, in the city of Baltimore, as a
wharf or landing place, for the Ferry boats of said
Company in exclusion of all other Steam Ferry
boats plying in the harbor of said city.

Exclusive
right.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That it shall
not be lawful for any Steam Ferry boat, other than
one of those belonging to the said Broadway and
Locust Point Stearn Ferry Company of Maryland,
to land at, or use either of the sides or the end of
the said wharf at the foot of Haubert street, nor
the end or either of the sides of the wharf at the
foot of Broadway mentioned in the Act to which
this is a supplement; and any and every person
or persons, in charge, control or command of any
Steam Ferry boat, other than a boat belonging to
