LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Have access to
books.

Sec. 18. And be it enacted, That every member
of this Company shall at all times have access to
the books and records thereof, and the President
and Directors shall, whenever required by the
Legislature, lay before them a statement of
the affairs of said Company; in case of any suit
against or in favor of said Company, any court
of record may, by a proper order, compel the pro-

duction of its books and records, and any member
thereof may prosecute and maintain a suit at law
or in equity against said Company, and may also,
if individually interested, be a party to any suit
brought by or against the said Company, and
admitted to testify as a competent witness therein.

Not to issue.

Sec. 19. And be it enacted, That nothing herein
contained shall be so construed as to confer banking
privileges in said Company to issue any note,
token, Script, device or other evidence of debt to
be used as currency.

Additional
powers.

Sec. 20. And be it enacted, That a majority in
amount of the whole number of members of this
Company, in their discretion, may accept and re-
ceive any additional powers and privileges which
may at any time be conferred upon it either by
amendment of this Act or by any others hereafter
to be passed.

Amend.

Sec. 21. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
at all times be liable to be amended, altered or
repealed at the pleasure of the Legislature.

In force.

Sec. 23. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 356.

 

AN ACT for the benefit of Agriculture by securing
the Vendors of Manures.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That whenever any of the farmers
and planters of this State shall purchase for the
purpose of manuring their farms any of the guanoes
